Exclusive WOLVERINE Update
XMF has exclusively learned that Oscar-nominated cinematographer Donald McAlpine has joined the growing crew of WOLVERINE!
The 73-year old McAlpine’s career has spanned nearly 4 decades in which he’s been nominated for an Academy Award for his work on Moulin Rouge!. Other credits include Clear and Present Danger, Predator, Mrs. Doubtfire, Peter Pan, and Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
In addition to a cinematographer, sources tell us that Kenny Myers, makeup artist on X-Men: The Last Stand and The Prestige, will once again be working on Hugh Jackman’s makeup for WOLVERINE. Myers has worked on such films as How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Pirates of the Carribean: At World’s End, War of the Worlds and most recently Charlie Wilson’s War.
We’re also advised that director Gavin Hood and his crew were scouting additional locations in New Zealand this week.
Thanks to X-Effect!

I MUST SAY, I WAS WEARY ABOUT THE FILM BEING MADE ESPECIALLY IF 20TH CENTURY FILM WANTED IT OUT BY SUMMER. THERE IS SO MUCH HISTORY AND SOTRY TO WOLVERINE (aka LOGAN aka JAMES HOWLETT). BUT HAVING INDIE OSCAR WINNER DIRECTOR GAVIN HOOD, AND , SO FAR, 2 OTHER FAMILAR FACES ON BOARD, AS THE CREW, SO MAKE THIS PICTURE PROMISING. HOPE THEY STAY TRUE! (I MUST AGREE THAT WOLVIE IS INDEED 5′3′’ IN HEIGHT). I AWAIT TO HEAR MORE ASAP ABOUT MORE CREW AND MORE UPSOMING CAST (HEROS AND VILLIANS)

Marvel has changed Wolverine`s height over the years…he was 5`3 and he is now 5`7 in the comics

This movie is shaping up nicely. All the haters are going to be silenced when this film comes out, ha!

Cause Cyclops is like 6 something and Wolvie is shorter than him by alot.

Ok, people need to realize that these movies are not direct editions of the comic books. They take the characters and fit them into a completely different world than the comic books, in that transition some things lose significance (like height). The truth is that no matter how tall or short Wolverine is, you’re still going to see the movie.

Well, can’t fault the director for scounting in New Zealand with its beautiful locations, but if ANY movie deserves to be shot in Alberta, it’s definitely Wolverine. The character has Alberta origins, they’ve been here before with X2: X-Men United, and the Alberta film industry is getting revitalized thanks to dedicated cast, crew, industry proponents, and goverment realization that the film industry contributes to people’s livelihoods in this province.
Also, there is almost nowhere else in the world where you can access so many diverse locations in short driving (or flight distances).
Just as NY, LA, and other cities are portrayed by other North American cities, Alberta is definitely in the same situation now. We’d love to see Wolverine return!
In any case, McAlpine is a great cinematographer, knowing how to use the jungle as a character in Predator, and I look forward to seeing what he can do with Wolverine.

ok so since your making the wolverine movie, i really like the character deadpool, he was put in the same weapon x program just like wolverine, that would be cool to add him in the mix, or he even could get his own movie. thanks Nick

Hey,
I saw Hugh Jackman in my gym this morning, working out, looked like he’s preparing for his Wolverine role…

I would have loved to have seen that.

“and can they please make him shorter?”
Because no one likes short people. Randy Newman was right, short people have no reason to live.
As for the film not sucking, if they keep away from what Singer and crew did with Sabertooth, that being completely destroying what could have been a malicious and devious psychopath. They had such a great opportunity for a running Wolvie/Sabertooth storyline across multiple films, but they completely F’d it up with having Wolvie fighting Mystique (WTF?) and Lady Lamestrike (Wolverine should NEVER get dusted by an 80 pound Asian Fast and the Furious wannabe chicky).
PLEASE, keep it dark, violent and smart.

What does “a był w tej bajce smok? ” mean?
on September 24th, 2007 at 10:05 pm
There is no way they can make Wolverine shorter since Hugh is 6′2 and he can not get shorter so stop bitching about his height when you all know there is nothing they can do about it.
on September 30th, 2007 at 11:31 am
Vicki, they may not be able to make Hugh Jackman physically shorter but they can make him seem to be shorter.
